Baumber windfarm action group

the bwag perspective

Baumber Windfarm Action Group (BWAG) formed on feb 20th, 2008 to oppose the siting of eight 2 mega watt 125 metre high wind turbines, very close to the villages of Baumber, Wispington, Minting, Edlington, Hatton, Thimbleby, Hemingby and the town of horncastle. aS SUCH THESE MASSIVE TURBINES WOULD BE THE FIRST IN THE VALE OF LINCOLN ON THE WESTERN EDGE OF THE LINCOLNSHIRE WOLDS AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY. THE TURBINES ARE TALLER THAN ANY OTHERS IN THE REGION, IN THE MOST SENSITIVE AND MARGINAL OF LOCATIONS AND WOULD TOWER OVER THE HIGHEST RIDGE IN THE WOLDS. SUCH INAPPROPRIATE AND IMPOSING INDUSTRIALISATION IN A STUNNING RURAL LOCATION GOEs BEYOND THE ACCEPTABLE and far beyond what is really "green".

Bwag embraces the concept of renewable energy, including wind, as a natural source of additional electricity generation but opposes the siting of large wind turbines in DELICATE AND BEAUTIFUL areas such as ours, where VILLAGES, PEOPLE, the localenvironment, eco-systems and the rural economy STRIKE A FINE BALLANCE. THIS PROPOSAL WOULD SERIOUSLY IMPACT THE WELLBEING OF ALL WHO LIVE AND PROTECT THIS GREAT AREA.

TURBINES ON THE WESTERN EDGE OF THE WOLDS WOULD OPEN THE DOORS TO THE INDUSTRIALISATION OF whole of OUR HISTORIC COUNTY.

Cathedral-Comparison

the scale of the issue

The scale of what we face is illustrated here with one of the proposed 125 metre turbines shown next to lincoln cathedral.

would this be tollerated in this location?

why should it be allowed next to an area of outstanding natural beauty such as ours?
