How High?

Hi. I just wondered if I've missed something as I've been following the debate since the beginning and have noticed recently that on alot of the new pictures in the gallery and also the article regarding the recent helicopter flight that the turbines height is now being put at a total height of 130metres. I thought they were were supposed to be a total height of 125metres...hence the query.

Re: How High?

Chris, thanks for the question. I have been putting the images together based on the statements made in Enertrag's published proposal documents. In the "Baumber Wind Farm Proposal" (available from the Enertrag website) the dimensions are stated as {QUOTE} "Each turbine would be a maximum of 85m high to the hub and the rotors would be a maximum of 90m in diameter" - hence the 130m figure used to calculate the turbine heights to blade tip in the various photographic composite images. In addition (so as to reduce any margin of error further) the helicopter was also used to calculate heights from various positions in reference photographs and Google Earth for GPS locations before the pictures were produced. It is critical to me that my work represents a realistic impression of the impact of this proposal on a human scale - something we can all relate to.

Re: How High?

Also guys & gals... as preview of one of the coming Scenes/Acts over on the mere balk lane forum.. the real question is enertrag have 'stated that the size & model to be used will depend on the wind resource and available technology at .. at the appropriate time.. although they have stated the 'maximum size will be 85 m to hub & 90 m in diameter'

Can they be trusted..?

ps the next generation of turbines are bigger & far more powerful..500 ft high 5 mgwatts approx .. yes you heard it here 1st

follow the story..more to be revealed....
