can we be more constructive?

I am glad to hear that (some) members of BWAG are taking climate change and peak oil seriously. The IPCC tell us that we have around 100 months to get CO2 in the atmosphere from 385ppm back down to 350ppm - that will take some doing... Would members of BWAG consider much smaller, community owned turbines that would have less impact on the landscape and benefit locals instead of massive corporations? Let's find innovative local solutions - to "do our bit" and also to help our local community (including future generations!) adapt to peak oil. Fossil fuels can only get more expensive, whereas renewables can only get cheaper.

I'm not pro turbine for the 'Global Warming', as CO2 contributes to about 3% of that... I'm for them as I would guess (and this is a long shot), we might need electricity in the future.

Oh pish posh! Who needs electrcity! All you need is some good firewood, matches or some alternate way of lighting the wood and voila! Heat and light for all!

Which is ironic as this is coming from someone who seems incapable of forming a coherent sentence.

Also, I suspect I won't need a duvet to keep me warm for muchlonger, what with all this golbal warming coming on due to conventional power stations and the neglect of alternative power sources (like wind farms...)

C'mon objectivist dude. If you actually understood global warming you'd know that Britain will be getting colder not warmer. Considering our latitude we're stupidly temperate. It's all to do with the sea (which I will say again is where these turbines should be put, if anywhere).

Yes of course, the Sea. Where they cost more to build and maintain... Don't worry, it's mainly the south-west that'll get colder. We're used the rubbish weather up here.

Derek offshore is best

Derek you just dont listen... The off shore turbines produce 7 times more power and they are therefore cost effective..

16 mega watts here is a nonsense and you know it...

Re: can we be more constructive?

I'm not so sure it's the inability to listen as just the incapacity to read and assimilate facts. Derek me ol' mucker, do you want me to actually track down some figures to prove that offshore turbines are more cost efficient than land based ones? Or does the threat of actual evidence worry you for some bizaree reason...shall we call it factphobia?
