It's all a bit batty

Just to move away from the birds (if you want to see the Pissed Tit, just go to Horncastle on a Friday night). There be bats around Wispington, down by Hall Farm actually. Is that too close enough to the turbines to count, or do we need to see them splattered on the blades until it's a little too close? (Oh, and judging from the general level of intellectual prowess shown on this site I'm sure you all realise bats are a protected species).

For crying out loud, bats are capable of flying in the dark through forests! Do you seriously think a bat isn't going to notice these '125m monstrosites' as you call them?!

Trees generally don't go round in circles with a nice cutting motion though, right?

Hey, I didn't even know how to spell monstrosity before you told me I'd said it! As long as it's only words you put in my mouth Derek I'm sure we'll both be happy (ok maybe you won't be).

Re: It's all a bit batty

Just to add a bit of gravitas, here's a link to a site about deaths of bats at wind turbine sites. Sorry to actually put forward evidence as opposed to just pulling facts out of thin air.

Re: It's all a bit batty

It is hard trying to get a hyperlink working here.

The 'you' was a plural 'you' as in the anti-turbine group as a whole. (Sometime writing in a foreign can help... damn English with our of difference between singular and plural 'you forms!)

I suppose logically, bats use echolation which would point out the fact there's a great big structure in front of them. Further echolations would point out that the pointy out bits are moving, so logically the bats would compensate it's flight path accordingly, if it was still desperate enough to get to the other side.

Re: It's all a bit batty

Is that a whiff of sarcasm I smell from you Mr Derek?

Did you actually access the ritalinlink I posted? (Thought that's a suitable opposite of 'hyper'link). It actually states that the main problems occur with migratory bats, ergo (FTW!) they turn off echolation to preserve energy for the long flight. So they do go splat against these big white elephants. Please, I implore you mighty font of all made up knowledge, READ THE BLOODY SOURCES PROVIDED. That is all.

Ah I see, that makes sense. Do we know of a migratory path that runs through the proposed site?

Now 'big white elephants' is interesting... those words have been used before. I wonder if your the same person.

Re: It's all a bit batty

I used the term because I know what a white elephant is and it seems particularly apt under the current circumstances. Besides, who am I supposed to be? I was always told to be myself, truthfully though - hiding behing pseudonyms is fun! Give me your full name and I'll give you mine ;)

Downing St Petition

Well along with the issue of Bats.. I actually used the web address posted re the bats and got straight to the report

You are such a sceptic what what will finally convince you that off the real issues...

Any way you are extremely useful to highlight the real counter truths of the debate.... I am now confident that the growing body of evidence is exposing the FACTs the Wind Energy Companies have known all along but chose to keep quiet about.

ohh I nearly forgot Im on this page to highlight the Downing St Petition....

even better oppose this site completely protect the abundance of wildlife and birds & bats that visit and nest hear.

Dont let the site be dug up and have tarmac roads, substation ,Pylons thousand tons of concrete...

also did you know that it is likely as with most wind farms that Enertrag will want more turbines if you think its only 8

then you could be in for a nasty surprise.... But then again and I make no apologies for this comment ,we are dealing with NASTY PEOPLE..... who say there are no wild life issues when the surveys havent be published..

They say that the RAF have no issues with this location when I have a letter from the RAF disputing this statement...

I will expose Enertrags mis representations and give you real FACTs as they come to light

Taking me good friend John Wards advice. 'it's all about syntax'... are you the same Melvin? I apologise if you are, but that post didn't follow the 'syntax' of the Chairmans other posts.

P.S. I noticed you avoided my question of if there were any migratory paths of bats around here?

OH NO! The world will collapse on the basis I missed an apostrophe! Quick, run!

Come on, at least add to the argument.

(I do realise this is a hypocritical post too, but there wasn't anything for me to argue against...)

Re: It's all a bit batty

Well there was an interesting article in the Times a few weeks ago. Apparently it's not a fact of bats flying into turbines it's more the fact that the change in air pressure kills them...oh well. Echolation for the win!

Oh bless. Derek the funny thing about that is that I wasn't even trying to correct your spelling. I just wrote it correctly when I wrote it.

I actually quoted it because I didn't understand what you meant by "the Chairman's other posts" and was hoping for some clarity. Clearly I apologise for completely missing the point if, of course, it was clear.
