A suggestion

Putting the brakes on climate change is the biggest and most urgent issue, and affects everyone. Perhaps it would add a particular weight to the BWAG campaign if we could find other - perhaps even more effective ways - to do our bit to combat climate chaos. For instance, we could hardly be accused of mere NIMBYism if the whole of Baumber pledged to stop flying?

Re: A suggestion

hi laura

Thanks for your message

In answer, your spot on... actually we held our first public meeting in Minting on the 26 (last thursday ) when you posted your message. Gary one of our members and speakers at that meeting, suggested the very same thing and gave the figures for co2 savings... yes as part of the campaign we will be highlighting different ways we can all help to reducing harmful emmissions... We are trying to give a balanced case...

Unfortuantly for us, what also came out of that meeting was the serious noise & health issues living within 900 metres of a turbine can raise...

I hope you read this Enertrag.... not 700 metres you push or the 800 metres ELDC suggest based on the 60 metre tall turbines at conisholme.... BUT 900 METRES from 100 METRE HIGH TURBINES, ALARMIST IM AFRAID NOT.

All of you who have been posting stuff on here for the turbines are advocating we who live close to this proposed farm Including as it happens Chase Farm, The Limes, Lime Cottages, Chase Farm cottages will have to put up with potential health hazards such as disturbed sleep ..... noise, head aches ringing in your ears I can go on...

THIS IS HAPPENING AT CONISHOLME NOW......

WE WILL GIVE OUT MORE INFORMATION AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE

Re: A suggestion

other suggestions for renewable energy. Instead of subsidies for wind farms, which create noise and other issues, and produce little benefit anyway. Why not subsidise solar panels for people to fit to their own houses? no noise polution, or other issues, do not change or ruin the countryside. No massive ammounts of concrete, producing co2 at production. Just proven benefits?

Re: A suggestion

Looking to the future. Nuclear Fusion (as opposed to Fission, which we all no about) has been proven to work, and offers huge non poluting benefits....providing it is fueled by Helium 3. The sun produces large amounts of Helium 3 everyday, that do not reach the Earths surface because of the effect of our atmosphere, making it very scarce on Earth. Although the moon appears to be covered in it. For this reason China, Russia, America, Japan, and Europe are all planning moon visits.

Yes fenbeagle you are correct there are plenty of other options we as a country have, although we possibly can not expect to have our own space project, but people must realise that there are other options for re newable energy other than the 'old cliche', coal / nuclear power staions, that scare the general mass. we should not put up with the quick fix policies of this government, and to make matters worse has any body read the artical in the sunday telegraph this weekend, apparently the suppliers are not making enough money from these turbines, and are turning to the government for more money, you know what that means, more of our tax money going to a pointless cause!.

Re: A suggestion

Suggestions for reducing CO2? Ok, shall we all have a go then (I note none of the pro-turbine lot are being especially productive).

1. Take the bus! It actually works, I know - I didn't think so either!

2. Convert your car to LPG.

3. Turn off electrical appliances - not just suspend them.

4. Eat less rice, personally I think it's all China's fault.

5. Eat less beef - a cow creates enough CO2 in a day to float a hot air balloon.

6. Don't use so much concrete, as it's one of the most poluting industries around (whoops to a turbine's foundations I guess)

7. Instead of wasting the hot air you produce defending wind turbines, why not bottle it?

2. Isn't very good! Hydrogen fuel cells are the future are being pioneered by Honda as we type.

3. 'suspend' (wrong word there... Standby.. that's it!... although it is preferable to use sleep mode on a computer. The electricity used in 10 hours of sleep mode is equal to booting it up ONCE.

5. It's methane not CO2 that cows produce a lot of. Surely the answer is to eat MORE beef to remove the the cows we have and then eat LESS so less demand.

7. Ha! More effective than solar power probably too!

2, 3, 5, 7? I thought it went 1,2,3,4,5,6,7?

Re: A suggestion

Duh, can't you see he's listing prime numbers (just saved you there Derek). But I do agree, cows produce methane - I apologise for my heinous oversight. But some now, what's a hydrocarbon amongst friends? Give me some of that good ol' hydrogen, a little bit of carbon and some delightful oxygen...and I can make you some methane!!! Oops, that's ethanol ;)

Downing St Petiton

Just to up date you all. The Downing St petition has over 2,000 signatures. This petition is calling for a minium of a

2 km distance between any turbine and peoples homes.... Although the petition in itself is limited in its scope..none the less this is important to help mitigate against the health and noise issues that are becoming increasingly apparent.

Please all of you who visit this forum and care about the impacts many people are already suffering from, click on to the link on our welcome page and add your name... We will be highlighting this petition through the media and at our presentations over the coming months.

Please do your bit..

Thank you

Melvin

You are those were the only ones needing correcting. (The concrete may need to as well, but I don't have the time to research up on that one!)

Re: A suggestion

The concrete thing is very scary Derek, exceptionally! Makes all your water carrying a little redundnant in comparison, de minimus indeed! I would find you a link...but as I've learnt from past experiences, you won't read them, now will you?

I'm glad you suggested this - MPs have the opportunity to vote on this matter this right now. If you think small scale renewable approach would be preferable to a large commercial wind farm, you might like to mention it to Sir Peter Tapsell...
