Not on my doorstep?

Come on people this strikes me as 'Not on my doorstep' action. I for one do not think wind turbines are ugly and infact like the look of the wind turbines at Mablethorpe.

We need to start bringing in solutions to fossil fuels now and not in 20 years time. Not so long ago there were windmills all over the countryside and these caused no noise/wildlife problems.

I for one believe Nuclear is the only short term solution with wind power backing it up BUT getting a site approved for the building of a nuclear power station must be like getting blood from a stone. Yet Nuclear is not only clean it's also nowadays very very safe. The word Nuclear holds no fear for me as I am an informed person.

I am also not against wind turbines but don't believe they are a solution to the energy problem unless you cover the area of wales with them (Not realy against that either :P).

If everyone keeps fighting against projects to reduce our need for fosil fuel we could find ourselfs back in the dark ages when supply dies up.

Re: Not on my doorstep?

MMM but the ones at mablethorpe are only half the size of the monsters they want to dump here in unspolt country side. Think about 125 meters nearly the hight of the HUMBER BRIDGE PILLARS FROM THE ROAD SURFACE UP (OR 409 FEET). The blade span is wider than a jumbo jet.( ideal for out at sea)

THEY WILL BE SEEN FOR OVER 30 MILES AND WILL DWARF ANYTHING IN THE LOCAL VICINITY.

Thanks for your post

Re: Not on my doorstep?

ps we do support renewable energy generation and wind turbines in the right location, not where they cause blight.

The offshore turbines are far more efficient. On shore are marginally useful ,as long as they are at least 2 miles from any homes or schools or where people work.

Re: Not on my doorstep?

I appreciate that we need to create new forms of energy and I too am an educated woman. I agree that windfarms look fine placed in the correct location, but imagine as will be the case for me, walking out of your front door to be greeted by 8 turbines. We will be one of the closest houses to the turbines and will be surrounded by them. We are not in agreement with these turbines at all and hope that in line with the planning decisions recently in Gainsborough, they are rejected as blighting the beautiful undulating landscape surrounding our homes.

Re: Not on my doorstep?

And again... Off-Shore costs more. (I think I'll turn that into a catchy phrase, it rhymes after all).

Also, they're well over a mile away from Baumber, so the 'blight' you keep ranting on about, will be next to none.

See, it's not nice having signs put up everywhere you look, is it? Whether they are for or against windfarms.

With regards to the above, I recently visited my girlfriend's house in the village of Martham, Norfolk, where one of the first windfarms in the UK was built. More recently an Enercon E-66 1.8MW unit has been erected by Ecotricity. From the village the unit is obscured from view by houses in many areas, however it is obviously visable once out the village. I cycled up to the unit one afternoon; I've go to say I felt it was a very graceful structure since the blades moved round at very low speed compared to some of the domestic units available. I was also surprised at just how quite it was, even in a fairly stiff breeze I could easily hold a conversation without raising my voice. I'd be more than happy to live in the vacinity of one of these units, I'd actually feel quite proud of it being in my community. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the aesthetics of these things, but lets not assume we all find them a total eye-sore.

Re: Not on my doorstep?

I agree with you Tibber. I've visited a Wind Farm site in my time too, it was in Germany. I believe the turbines were of the larger size too. I stood right next to one, and the noise? Next to none, just the noise of the wind.

Shall I tell you where they were located? About 600m from a playing field, of which was on the edge of the village where I was staying.

Oh! So that is your justification. Thought you would try and add some maturity to your campaign? Nice.

How ironic. You say that I am on here every waking second and post so much you seem to think I'm/ I want to be a moderator, yet here you've quoted a post from months back for no apparent reason than to simply post.

Oh, and just for the sake of correction, I never said you were on here all the time.

I'm sorry if it isn't the case, but I assumed that 'I am not a Plastic Bag' is the username you've finally settled on and that you were the one who went under leagues of usernames, one of which said such a thing. If it isn't the case, then we must hunt down this fraud!

So you're assuming people are interested enough to have a set of names simply to harrass you?! Does your ego truly know no bounds?! Let's face it now Derek me ol' mucker. If you actually looked at the different posts of different people you'd see all manner of grammatical styles. It's all about syntax my friend, it's all about syntax!

I can assure you Derek that I have gone under no other aliases. I am not quite at the necessary level of 'pathetic' that would compel me to do such things.
