Welcome

Thank you to all members of BWAG and particularly Greg and Shawn for their hard work in setting up this site.

We will be adding further features and developments in the coming weeks.

We are facing a big challenge and have made real progress in the past 2 - 3 weeks. There is much to do in raising the profile of our campaign, so that all those in the immediate area and further afield really are aware of what could be a thrust upon us.

I urge all of you who visit this site to carefully consider and if necessary do your own research on the issues we have highlighted.

Before the 21/11/2007, I had very little knowledge of wind turbines or wind farms..... I would consider myself to be an average type of person, keen to work and provide a future for myself and my 2 sons, pay my taxes and live a normal life... How things can change on one day......

Please get involved if we fail we will all suffer ...

Re: Welcome

I must say there is a slight problem with both the banner at the top of the site and your name, both seem to suggest you are actually for the wind farm, your name suggests that you're trying to get people interested and on board the idea rather than protest it, and the banner to be honest doesn't look too threatening, the turbines actually look kind of good with the clear blue sky and the green trees. I actually agree with Tom because I clicked on here thinking this was a site for people for it (type it into google, you'll see what I mean).

Site up dates

You all may have noticed we have been very busy updating the site and have launched a series of wide angle photos demonstrating the massive impact these turbines will have over such a wide vista.

You can down load them and enlarge them to check out the full details. These images are carefully constructed and are very accurate. In Enertrag's first submission to ELDC, they stated that the turbines would be visable to the local farms and residents, conveniently omitting the fact that the impact will be across vast tracts of landscape

Oh & by the way, the BWEA has stated that it is the duty of each energy company and planning authority to maximise the full potential of each wind farm site once the initial turbines are commissioned...

We will soon be informing you of the true potential of this site and the proposed access routes..Information Enertrag dont want you to know... Oh, and also these are the 2nd generation of turbines, in time they will be replaced with larger .. possible over 500 ft high machines... and in addition forget 25 years this could go on indefinately as the planning permission will be renewed over time...

Your Cover is exposed Enertrag.....

Plus the real bad news every one..... Lincolnshire is Ear Marked for the vast majority of the East Midlands Targets..

TURBINE COUNTY HERE WE COME.....

The good news is we will not stand idly by and let them walk all over us.. If you have any feelings at all for the heritage and character of Lincolnshire you need to wake up NOW

It's only a joke if people find it funny. You can tell it's not a very good joke by the number of tumbleweeds rolling around at the moment (thinking of which shouldn't a comment like this be in the wildlife section?).

Thank you all of you who have added your signatures to the Dowing St Petition as a direct result of following the link from our site. If you are looking at this this site for the 1st time or havent got round to adding your name, please do so. It is important. Just as a foot note : If you take time and look through the long list of names you will note that at least 17 Doctors, 4 Professors, Roger Helmer MEP are amongst those who have made this stand.

New Year

Well here we are on the threshold of a New Year 2009... I sincerley hope you all had a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas and wish to thank you for the tremendous support we have received.

When I look back we at where we have come from.. This time last year, although Enertrag had submitted their proposals and the application for the Mast ,( which we did NOT sabotage, contary to suggestions from some quarters, the wind at that time was very unpredictable) had been approved..

BWAG did not officially form until Feb 20th....

Greg and I met in the January at a Baumber Parish Council Meeting, having followed each other around the locality

with our home made signs, blissfully unaware of each other... Perhaps i shouldn't be disclosing the phantom sign poster's identities... Well, I feel sometimes one has to make a stand, even though you may feel you are on your own....

Here is a recap of our progress .....We have had numerous press peices in the Horncastle News, Target and the Lincoln Echo I'm not sure exactly how many..

We have been featured on the front page of the Horncastle News several times... Had features on both Lincs FM and Radio Lincolnshire.. A News item on Look North which is posted on this site..

We have met Sir Peter Tapsell and Edward Leigh twice each ... They have pledged their full support and have accepted the role of Patron and Vice Patron respectively for which we thank them..

We have rolled out a series of Presentations locally in Minting, Wispington, Hemingby, Thimbleby, Horsington and last but not least Baumber...

Julian and Jane Davies where guest speakers at Minting and Baumber.. We again offer our thanks to them and their tireless campaign thoughout the country, even representing groups I understand at Public Enquiries..

We also enjoyed the company of Debbie Wren as a co -speaker at Minting....

We have established good relationships with many Action Groups and have met with them as well..

We have commissioned an Landscape painting by local Artist Fraser Scarfe Titled A 'Lincolnshire Legacy'

The unveiling of this stunning painting was conducted by Sir Peter Tapsell with The Lincolnshire Chairman of The CPRE in support at Baumber Park, with Mike and Claire Harrison hosting the event.

Fraser's interview with Radio Lincolnshire again is posted on the Welcome Page...

In addition we have had many requests for signs showing visual support....

More recently we have asked questions at the last full Council Meeting of ELDC highlighting our concerns at the impact of the proposed turbines at Baumber and the many more that could follow on and are indeed in the pipeline... I have said and will say again, that Lincolnshire is in danger of becoming a Turbine County, where there will be nowhere in the county where you will not see turbines, if the Wind Energy Industry get their way.. This will be the outcome, if the stated aims of the BWEA are pursued (Kettering Conference)...

However our team have been working hard behind the scenes preparing for the most important part to come...

Enertrag's planning application... We will vigorously oppose this every step of the way...

It is also very apparent that the National Press and general public are at last beginning to wake up to the real facts behind the dash for wind...

In addition we have linked in with the European Platform Against WindFarms which is gaining strength across the EU and has been receiving messages of support from other parts of the World....

I must admit it has been a pleasure to meet so many new people and work along side my neighbours in this common cause..

Thank you again and I wish you all a Happy New Year

Following on from the above...

In my main message last night, the following items were inadvertently omitted...

Last March we presented a petition to John Ward personally, containing 215 signatures, all from local residents in Minting, Wispington and Baumber. Those closest to the site.

This petition called upon John Ward and his family to reconsider their decision to proceed with this project...

The response given, was they were unfortuantly tied into a contract , which included an extremely high penalty clause to rescind, so were not in a position to change their minds ...

Again, I wish to thank all of you who, at very short notice, were prepared to put your names to this petition.

Also we have been issuing a Monthly News letter which has been hand delivered to all the local homes in neighbouring villages. I hope you have found this useful and do welcome your feed back ...

The news letter and other printing has been kindly provided by City Print (Peterborough) Ltd mainly without cost ofr at very cost price. Again I wish to thank City Print and the members of BWAG for the hard work spent compiling them and delivering them door to door...

I also wish to thank all of you who have provided voluntary donations which has enabled BWAG to meet the costs incurred....

Well I think thats covered most of the events etc

there is also those working maintaining this site...

I will finish now ..

Thank you

Congratulations & Welcome Little green Aliens

Well what a week....

It is very comforting in some ways, that the little green aliens visited Conisholme on Saturday evening and caused such a worldwide stir.....

However, as I have said before, re: the mast falling/blowing down and after it was inferred by comments on this site and by others, that we had a hand in vandalising it...

(I must stress again,) we do not support or condone any illegal acts, even by these 'extraterrestrials'...

Still, .... thank you, to all those who have launched the story and the local and national media, who most eloquently and graphically reported it: ...

Especially to The Sun for their mock up of ET, (although personally I think ours is better)..

For giving such prominence to the fact that , when placed inappropriately damaged turbines shedding blades and debris, pose a real danger which could prove fatal....

However we are so grateful that there have been no reports of our visitors suffering any injury..

even though perhaps they may need flying lessons....

We will continue to call for a National and International 2 km safety zone to mitigate against future tradgedies... Perhaps there should be some form of new warning frequency emitted from turbines, to warn passing long distance travellers....

Before this is operational, it must meet stringent safety criteria so it causes no additional human health issues,

unlike the problems associated with vibro- acoustic disease caused by turbines, which requires as a matter of urgency further research......

I wonder what next week will bring...

visitors....

Maybe they wanted to visit the Wind Farm having viewed our web site, approved of tasteful green background and content plus pictures...... Then thought when next passing, they would see it they could match the mast incident......

We do not condone acts of vandalism

Turbines proved to be unsafe!

I agree with your conclusions in that when all the froth about UFOs and visitors from afar has died down we will all see a message that is clear and concise. Indeed reported in almost every article or news report was the fact that there is an inherent danger built into such large moving structures especially when situated near roads, farms, wildlife habitats and of course homes. In Sheffield city centre there is a perfect example of what could turn out to be potentially fatal complacency. On a roundabout on the ring road is a very large wind turbine that spins at high RPM in the right conditions and if, heaven forbid, a similar "Conisholme Effect" was to happen there the effect on this busy intersection would be devastating.

In Baumber and elsewhere this inherent problem and the potential very real dangers of ice-throw (as illustrated so dramatically in December 2008 at Whittlesey) or structural failure become obvious. So far everyone has been lead to believe that industrial wind turbines are safe at the very least irrespective of all the other arguments for and against. The admittance by insurers in last week's London Metro (as posted in the NEWS page of this site) newspaper that 5-6 similar accidents happen in the UK every year is ringing alarm bells in the energy industry especially as new-build funding becomes increasingly difficult and marginal "wind" returns less attractive as oil prices stay low.

From a personal perspective I remain concerned that Baumber's proposed 130metre high turbines (remember they are much bigger than those at Conisholme) will be right next to a public road that I use everyday, next to recreational bridal ways that are also the only entrances to homes, alongside invaluable wildlife and natural setaside areas and so close to families and businesses.

My question to those who are pushing for a marginal wind farm in Baumber and those within ELDC (who in public office should know better than to speak about alien visitors ahead of addressing a serious safety issue) is that there is a duty of care to the community here and I amongst others am not at all convinced this is at the right level in the debate today.

Conisholme surely is a local and very relevant wake up call.

DALE VINCE; "IT TOOK THE EDGE OFF A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS ISSUE"

Yes Dale the fact that turbines are dangerous...

The fact that they are constantly being sited in locations that are putting peoples lives and health at risk is serious.... BUT FUN IT IS NOT! Thank you for raising this issue, the only proposal that will go some way in mitigating this is a 2 km safety zone... However, this is only 1 part of the wider issues that are spun and misrepresented by the Wind Energy Industry.

EPAW (European Platform Against Windfarms: www.epaw.org) is gaining more and more support from across the world, over 100 groups in France alone, have expressed their support for the objectives set out by this growing collection of windfarm action groups...

It is now time for the real truth to be fully exposed and openly debated ....

Turbine County

The march of the turbines does indeed continue.....

Its time that Lincolnshire really began to wake up to the stark reality ...

The wide open vistas and unique landscape character of Lincolnshire is under serious threat of being

changed for ever.... I urge you all who value this historical heritage to support AGAST ... voice your opinion by contacting AGAST through our web site link..

BWAG is in the process of liasing with all the groups in Lincolnshire to form a wider support base, to provide

a united front against this drive to obliterate the very essence of Lincolnshire..... a peaceful rural landscape

with wholesale industralisation..... remember the turbines will also get bigger and bigger along the way...

If you value what we all enjoy now, then don't just sit on the fence and be apathetic .. get involved there is much to do,... contact us using the links on the contact page..

Thank you

Happy Christmas

It doesn't seem long since I posted on the forum last year, yet looking back over this year a great deal has happened..

Enertrag finally submitted their application, which at first sight looked extremely daunting... However on closer examination we could see that many issues had been dressed up with verbiage and a liberal dose of ithe word 'insignificant'... Turbines over 400 feet tall just blend magically to the landscape, so surreal in the world of Enertrag.. are we to worship these spinning monsters? .. These massive follies that in time will be exposed for all to see as the biggest con trick, peddled under the gise of saving the planet..

They make little noise we are led to believe ... yet we know that not to be the case.. more will be exposed on this as well..

I congratulate SHOWT on their campaign and the decision to dismiss Enertrags appeal.. No doubt they will scurry off to the High Court and hopefully the resultant ruling will echo that of Guestwick..

Dear Enertrag can't leave that application alone though, so they now must prolong Guestwicks misery by applying for just 3 Turbines, 'foot in the door' syndrome Enertrag?

Lets hope they also fail at Great Linton and Tivershall St Mary...

Well enough of such unsavory matters..

All that remains is for me to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a big thank you for all your support.

Nearly 900 letters from our small local villages is, as WE know a huge big NO thank you Enertrag!

Public Inquiry

Just a update post after what seems a long gap.

As most of you will know Enertrag are now in my view playing their last card as we knew they would ,in running

desperately to an Inspector... They are hoping like spolit little children that he/she will give them access to their little

project which is absolutely ill conceived.

I did hear a rumour that David Lindley is leaving Enertrag disillusioned.. Poor chap David!, What do you hope to do next get a job as a barman?

Well we will do everything possible to state our case openly and honestly something you might consider worth doing perhaps?

See you and David Hardy on the 5th October, hope you are well prepared because we definately will be ...

Oh your hopes for a speedy planning application leading to approval haven't quite worked out has it...

Maybe you should have diverted to somewhere else in the North Sea perhaps....

or accepted a limited numer of applications in more acceptable locations ...

best wishes David in your new career if you have one...
