Looking at the logistics of the proposed Baumber wind farm site, these enormous turbines are built 10 metres below their surroundings, hence the need for them to be 130 metres tall. The Humber Bridge towers are 130 metres from the road level to the top. These aren’t pretty windmills, they are giant industrial monoliths in the heart of rural Lincolnshire a mile from an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The road construction needed even before the turbines are brought to site will take 12 months, then the villages will be left with eight turbines for the next 25 years. They cause shadow flicker when the sun is between them. Imagine living the whole summer with a light flickering on and off all the time. If they have lights on the top to protect against aircraft strike, we will have to endure flickering red lights all night. They will make a noise — the turbines themselves are relatively quiet, it is the blades ripping through the air that make a horrific noise. The vibration caused by the turbines can make people physically ill. The visual impact of this wonderful part of Lincolnshire will be destroyed.
So you think I am a NIMBY, but taking all into consideration, eight turbines sited in a non-viable site will not solve global warming or make a dent in the nation’s need for electricity. The only people to benefit from this are the landowner and the energy company Enertrag. They stand to make a financial killing and where does the money come from? The majority is from Government subsidies and where does that money come from? Your tax and my tax.We have to stop this development and make people wake up to the idea that wind turbines belong offshore. Companies like Enertrag will be scouring counties like ours for any bit of land they can fit a few turbines on. It’s all about money and nothing to do with electricity.
I will have all eight turbines in view of my house, three of them within 1,000m. They are too close.

BWAGs animation shows Hemingby, Baumber, five of the eight turbines and Lincoln Cathedral. This view looks west from within the Lincolnshire Wolds and represents a good example of the area's beautiful unspoilt rural landcape. Large wind turbines in this sensitive location would damage an area of the county that has never before been subjected to industry. As you can see this proposal will hit the Wolds hard and damage its nationally important AONB status.
